Ranveer Singh and Aalia Bhatt’s new movie Gully Boy was
initially released on 14th of February 2019 in Indian Cinemas. Other
Cast includes Vijary Raaz, Kalki Koechlin, Sidhant Chaturvedi, Vijay
Verma, Amurta Subhash and Sheeba Chadda. The movie is directed by prominent director Zoya Akhtar and
produced by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Music directors of
the movie are Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.
The film is based on the real-life story of Mumbai based Naezy
and Divine. The story is co-written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.
The film revolves around dreams and struggle of Murad (Ranveer
Singh) a 22 years old boy who belongs to Mumbai’s slum Dharavi. Murad’s father
Aftab Ahmed (Vijay Raaz) is a driver who and her wife Razia (Amruta Subhash) worked
hard to get their son educated so as he could get a white-collar job and live a
better life. Murad on the other hand eventually finds his passion in rap music.
Murad discovers real himself and finds what actually he wants to be in life. He
finds a way to express his feelings through poetry and rap. Kalki Koechlin plays
role of a musician returned from America and she take interest in Murad’s music
and himself too. Sidhhant Chaturvedi played role of MC Sher who supports Murad
and introduces him to rap.
Zoya Akhtar has the ability to tell any story beautifully and
make viewers feel themselves like characters of her movies and we have witnessed
this in her previous movies.
Murad believes and actually if you watch the movie, he makes
you believe that to make your dreams come true you must change your reality.
Murad keeps a diary with himself and writes down his feelings, emotions, the disappointments
coming his way, the joys and sorrows, being helplessness and struggling and
offcourse his dreams! In his diary; Murad writes Apna time aaeyga! (Our time
will come) which in the climax makes him winner in a competition. As an actor
Ranveer Singh has played Murad’s character with perfection when he portrays Murad’s
face expressions, body language, anger, attitude and love for dreams and fire
in himself to make his dreams come true. You watch Ranveer’s movies one-after-one
released and you will feel that there is no Ranveer but the character himself
is alive and that is the thing we call verstailty of an actor.
Alia Bhat has played character of Safeena, who is Murad’s
girlfriend. She is very possessive for Murad. She wants to be a surgeon and also
wants to marry Murad. Alia has beautifully played her character in the film.
The movie has 19 tracks including Apna time aayega and
doorie. Ranveer Singh has also sung songs like apna time aayega, Mere gully me,
Asli hip hop etc.
Gully Boy is worth watching, an entertaining movie with many
lessons to learn.
